This project, while smaller in scope than other endeavors, was among my favorites. While most of the pitch work we did was purely digital, this time we had the chance to do something different. Something big. We were going to pitch Kali Uchis, a BIG name, so this had to be special. We wanted this to be unlike anything her or her team had ever seen before. So we came up with the idea of creating a shadow box, based around this beautiful surreal graphic treatment. The idea was to bring that image to life. We had everything custom fabricated from colored acrylic and layered with iridescent film to make it shine. We worked with vendors and fabricators for about a week to get all of the measurements and dimensions correct.
Once the box and letters were cut, we went about applying the films. While the centerpiece is the name 'Kali Uchis', I am particularly proud of the QR code. This QR code houses the link to the actual pitch deck. We had never seen a physical QR code before, and wanted to make it work. So we die-cut the QR on a sheet of adhesive vinyl and applied it over the reflective material to give it dimension (and it still worked).
The most interesting thing about this project was that we got to do EVERYTHING. We called all the shots, from concept to execution. We maintained contact with vendors, get quotes, created our own deadlines... everything. A very rewarding process, and the final product is easy on the eyes.
Here is a look at the final product after we finished production.
