What would be considered a dream festival to most, is just that, a dream. I mean honestly... Daft Punk? This concept was created for one of my senior year design projects. After all this time, and after all of the work I've done, I keep this piece on here. Not just because it's nice to see where I cam from as a creative, but because it was the first full scope project I had the opportunity to work on. I enjoyed the process while honing multiple new skills. I picked up motion design, taught myself video editing and web design, and learned how to use mockups; I even tried my hand at out-of-home and digital marketing materials. I am still pretty proud of this project after all this time.
I have had a passion for music ever since I was a kid. My dad took me to my first concert, Tom Petty, at the age of 8, and I had been in love ever since. Naturally when we were told our senior design project could be anything we wanted, I knew I wanted to create a music festival. The ideal location, the ideal dates, the perfect lineup (in my mind) that covers all genres. I dove in head first.
I had never really had the opportunity to build a website before. This one was quite the challenge. Far from the landing page that most would be happy with, I opted for the full package. Multiple active pages, video masthead, interactive, with a built in audio player, blog, and ticketing platform. Would this website win any accolades on Awwwards.com? Probably not. To be fair... this was also my first time ever using Figma or InVision to build out and prototype. I don't know if you remember Figma back then, but I felt like this was pretty impressive at the time.
This was the most interesting part of the project. I had never made a snapchat filter, and had really no idea what went into making one. The process included designing the filter, getting it approved, scheduling the time it would go live, and creating the area where it would active. The final result was pretty impactful. I had scheduled it to go live within the visual arts building during my presentation. Paired with the promo video it really provided an immersive experience. It was fun to see people get excited over it.
